O!RUL8,2? by BTS Album Review

This was another album I received for Christmas. “O!RUL8,2?” by BTS came out on September 2013 with it's title song for this album being N.O. You know when you watch a video on YouTube and at the end it gives you suggestions for other videos? Yeah, that’s how I came across them. I looked them up on YouTube and watched their “We Are Bulletproof, pt 2” and  “No More Dream” music videos. I fell in love with this group right away. BTS is just different from other male groups I’ve seen and listened too. Before I found K-Pop I listened to a lot of rap, so this was very much up my alley.

They just debuted this year and in my opinion they are doing really well. They are all talented dancers, singers and rappers. I think they have a bright future ahead of them. They are all still young and have years to develop their musical abilities. I did watch “BTS: Rookie King” on YouTube and it helped me put faces to names. I could recognize Rap Monster, V and Jung Kook, but the other ones I would get confused on who was who. I can now recognize every member without trouble.

The album cover was white with “Oh! Are You Late, too?” in an off white color with “O!RUL8,2?” overlaid in red to the corresponding parts. They also had what I assumed to be a bulletproof vest with BTS on it. It’s very simple but eye-catching with the red and white. . The booklet concept was the same concept as the N.O music video: all white and red. The white just reminds me of something pure. The album also came with a poster and two little postcards: One of the group and a random member. I received Jimin’s card.

I really love this album. The album contains nine songs and one skit. Every song was awesome but it’s hard to pick my favorite song. But if I did pick one it would be either “If I Ruled the World” or “진격의 방탄”. But “Coffee Shop” is also really good. But the one things that surprised me what the cursing in “BTS Cypher PT.1”. At this point I haven’t heard any cursing in the songs that I’ve listened to. But that might have to do in the groups I listen too. The only word I have heard would be damn. I put all of the CDs I received for Christmas into a playlist so I could just listen to the new songs. So I made my mom listen to this album while I helped her make dinner and “BTS Cypher PT.1” was the first song to come on. First, my mom does not like rap music and second, she also doesn’t like cursing. So this was a great first song for my mom to listen to.

Would I recommend this Album: Yes I would. I would tell people its rap and not the usual K-Pop I listen too. But I love this album. I can listen to it over and over. I’m also looking into buying “2 Cool 4 Skool”.
